| | | Moscow OfficeUSDA has both an agricultural affairs office and agricultural trade office at the American Embassy in Moscow.
Agricultural office of the American Embassy in MoscowThe agricultural affairs office of the American Embassy in Moscow represents the interests of American agriculture and agribusiness in Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Georgia. Activities of the office include market research and analysis, market development, and market access. As an office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture abroad it serves as the "eyes and ears" of the United States Secretary of Agriculture and is the Secretary's formal liaison with the Ministers of Agriculture in all four countries. As an office of the American Embassy, it serves as the rural "eyes and ears" of the American Ambassadors in Moscow, Yerevan, Minsk and Tbilisi. USDA programs in the four countries of responsibility include food aid, export credits, technical assistance, technical exchanges, and scientific cooperation. In particular, USDA agencies are deeply engaged in joint research and cooperative programs in forestry, statistics, and genetics.
How we work on trade policyFAS coordinates and directs USDA's responsibilities in international trade negotiations, working closely with the U.S. Trade Representative's office. Trade policy experts at FAS help identify—and work to reduce—foreign trade barriers and other practices and policies that hinder U.S. agricultural exports. FAS is the enquiry point for World Trade Organization (WTO) sanitary and phytosanitary issues and technical barriers to trade. As such, the agency serves as the official conduit for notifications and comments about these measures. Please be in touch with us on your issues and concerns regarding market access in Russia. On these pages you can learn about how to follow Russian law and regulations on exporting U.S. products to Russia.
